Meet Dru Lowell

By the way, my name is actually Drusilla; however, most of my friends and colleagues have shortened it to “Dru.” I answer to either!

I am originally from eastern N.C., near Goldsboro, later moving to Florida where I completed my education, worked and married. I am the proud mother of two lovely daughters, one son (now deceased), four granddaughters and a four month old great-grandson!

My first position in the work force was in the auditing department of Peninsular Telephone Co., where I was Assistant to the Auditor of Receipts. My employment continued there until the birth of my second child and my husband’s transfer to northwest Fla. Subsequently, we were transferred to Atlanta, Ga. and in 1962 to Greensboro, NC. In the interim I was a stay-at-home mom, returning to the work force when my children entered school.

This time I entered the legal business as a legal secretary, then bookkeeping and Estate work. My husband, Maynard “Fritz” Lowell, Jr., started his insurance career in 1954, so I have been exposed to different phases of insurance since that time. In 1980, he joined with Bill Brannon in starting Carolina Consulting Services, Inc. As this company grew, a bookkeeper was needed and I got the job!

My son, Maynard Lowell, III, also worked with us as a brokerage rep until his untimely death some years ago.

My current duties with Group U.S. include receptionist, bookkeeping, commission auditing and accounting, as well as general assistance to the staff, our agents and brokers. It is a real pleasure to work with so many agents and brokers. I feel as though I know each and every one of them, even though there are many I have never seen face to face.

Group U.S. has a knowledgeable, well-rounded staff with much cross-training so there should always be someone here to lend you a hand. When you're in Greensboro, please drop in and get acquainted.
